1.5 weeks to go until Alcatraz
Well, I'm up to 6 miles now on running. The race requires an 8 mile run, so this week I'll try to run 10 miles.
I can do a 1 mile swim, but I haven't yet tried to do a 1.5 mile swim. So, this week I'll also try to do a 1.5 mile swim (requirement at Alcatraz)
The bike part is easy. 18 miles. I hope my bike is geared ok for the SF hills.

Thursday
I haven't written since my surgery. It went well.
I think I'm healing ok, although I've kind of been pushing it with the swimming/biking/running and my neck is feeling it.
We may do a race in April. I'll have to see how my neck is doing. It's the Telos Timp Tri.

This last week we had the marvelous opportunity to realize the baptism of a young man of 23 years, whose biggest goal now is to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! It´s an interesting story, I´ll start from the beginning. Some 5 months ago, we were having an activity at the Church. I was waiting outside, with another member, when suddenly a young man with long hair in dredlocks, obviously VERY stoned and or drunk, came up to us and started talking about how he wanted to join the church and be clean from his sins and everything. Well, we never I tried to get his address to visit him to help him with just that, but he refused to give it to me, saying that when he felt ready he´d visit the church. Well, that visit stayed in my mind, and a few months passed. Suddenly, one sunday almost 3 weeks ago, out of the blue this young man showed up at the Church, long hair in dreds and everything, excited to finally visit the church. He wasn´t drunk or stoned this time, and as I got to know him I realized that he was quite the opposite of the person that I had seen 5 months ago. He had actually attended the church for a good time almost 3 years ago, him and his family, almost 2 months, but they were never baptised and ended up falling away. This young man´s brother was imprisoned, and he himself fell into heavy drugs and smoking and drinking. But, as he reported after, he never felt good about it, and always wanted to return to the Church, be baptized, and serve a mission. He´d actually already the Book of Mormon a few times, The Miracle of Forgiveness, and the Teachings of some of the prophets, which is more than some members can say! And that´s exactly what happened. After that visit that he made that sunday out of the blue, we marked another appointment at his house, went and invited him to be baptized, he accepted, we set a date, and everything with him just went right! He stopped smoking, using drugs, drinking, and even completely shaved his head. And his baptism was really special (even though not many showed up to watch), because his mother and his sister also showed to to witness. Now, he´s going on splits with us and giving referalls and everything, and he´s preparing to serve the mission he always dreamed about. These are the real miracles of the Lord. The bishop of our ward made a comment, `` You guys worked your hardest, did your best, and almost ALL of the families or individuals that you guys were working with fell through or didn´t want anything more to do with the Church. And then, because of your effort, the Lord rewarded you with this young man, who was ready and waiting.´´ I know that the Lord loves each one of his children, and they NEVER lose his love, no matter how far they stray.
